About CaringFamily and the INFORMATION we collect

CaringFamily provides an online service that connects elders and their caregivers, including family and friends, to promote regular, more effective communications. To accomplish the purposes of the service, our customers enter personal information visible only to people in their online Private Care Network ("Care Network"), a group you and others in your family form that is allowed to view this information, among other things.

We do not make this information available to anyone other than the members of your Care Network or CaringFamily, except as required by law. We never sell, rent, or otherwise release your private information to anyone else.

Information collection

There are two ways you may become a CaringFamily user:

  1. If the elder is a resident of a senior care community (or another senior care business) that purchases the system on your behalf, either a CaringFamily customer service representative or a member of the community's staff will setup your Care Network and create your personal account on our system, or
  2. If your Care Network already exists, a member of the Care Network already known to us may create an account for you in the Member Directory section of our website, provided they have the appropriate privileges to do so within our system ("Administrator" privileges). You and they may add, modify, or remove information about your membership at any time.

In either case, to create your account, the CaringFamily system requires your name, email address, and an initial password that you may change at your discretion.

User Profiles

Once a user, you or others in your Care Network group may provide additional information in the Member Directory section of your Care Network, including your address, phone numbers, important personal dates (birthdays, anniversary, etc), nicknames, and a photo. Providing additional information beyond what is required at registration is entirely optional, but allows you to better identify yourself and enables certain features of the system for the benefit of other Care Network members.

Your Profile information may be viewed by all members of your Care Network and by CaringFamily personnel, and may be changed by any member with Administrator privileges. In any case, no one outside of your Care Network or CaringFamily can view or change your information.

Contact Information

In order to invite others to connect with you and other caregivers in your Care Network, you may create accounts for new members by entering their names and email addresses in the CaringFamily system, if you have appropriate privileges within the CaringFamily system. The information you provide may from time to time be used by CaringFamily to send invitations to those you want to send invitations and subsequent reminders.

You may also choose to enter additional information about these new members into the Member Directory section of our website as described above, either when initially added to the system or subsequently.

All information that you enter about your Care Network members will be covered by the same terms of this privacy policy as cover your own personally identifiable information.

Like most web sites, CaringFamily uses cookies to manage site usage. A cookie is a tiny data file that resides on your computer that allows CaringFamily to recognize you as a user when you return to our site using the same computer and web browser.

One type of cookie, known as a "persistent" cookie, may be set, at your option, once you've logged in to your CaringFamily account. The next time you visit the CaringFamily web site, the persistent cookie will allow us to recognize you as an existing user so you will not need to enter your user name again. In any case, if you log out of the CaringFamily site, you will need to re-enter your password the next time you visit in order to log in to your account.

Another type of cookie, called a "session" cookie, is used to streamline your use of the CaringFamily site, in particular, by not forcing repetitive logins during your use. Session cookies expire after a short time or when you close your web browser.

Information Use

CaringFamily is an online service dedicated to helping elders and caregivers, particularly families, more effectively connect with one another. The information you choose to provide on this site is used to assist you in this purpose. In addition, CaringFamily collects certain types of information in order to operate and improve our service to you and other users. CaringFamily LLC is the sole owner of the information collected on this site.

CaringFamily Communications

CaringFamily will communicate with you through email and notices posted on this website. These include a series of welcome and other emails that help inform new users about various features of the service; to prompt them to enter more personal information; to send messages to other members; and for other purposes. If you wish to opt-out of receiving these emails, please send a request to support@CaringFamily.com.

Customized Content

Information you provide at registration or in the Member Directory section is also used to customize your experience on the web site. For example, when you login to your account you may see upcoming important dates, like birthdays and holidays important to you and your family.

Information Sharing

CaringFamily takes our users' privacy very seriously. We will never sell, rent, or otherwise provide your personally identifiable information to any third parties for marketing purposes. We will only share your information with third parties to carry out your instructions and to provide specific services. For instance, we may use a credit card processing company to bill users for subscription fees. These third parties do not retain, share, or store any personally identifiable information except to provide these services and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements which limit their use of such information.

Legal Disclaimer

It is possible that we may need to disclose personal information when required by law. We will disclose such information wherein we have a good-faith belief that it is necessary to comply with a court order, ongoing judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on our company or to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

Viewing and Changing Your Personal Information

You can review the personal information you provided us and make any desired changes to the information at any time by logging in to your account on the CaringFamily website and editing the information in the Member Directory area. If you have the appropriate privileges in our system, you may also change other member's information or remove them altogether from your Care Network. You can also close your account and remove your information from the CaringFamily system by sending a request to support@CaringFamily.com. Please send your request using an email account that you have registered with CaringFamily under your name.
